The five IN ASYLUM series unifies performances under five form-based rules. While the content is unrestrained, all the work has five formal inclusions in common. This year, in keeping with our season's focus on war, we look to war for our five inclusions.

The Inclusions

  1. An attack (10 seconds of sustained aggression)
  2. A cease fire (10 seconds of pause)
  3. A retreat (10 seconds of backtracking)
  4. A sneak attack (a completely unexpected or outrageous moment)
  5. The name of a war or battle (the actual name, somewhere in the piece)
