Lucas Syed
Lucas Syed studied Music and Literature at Eugene Lang College: The New School for Liberal Arts, where he wrote and directed a variety of theatrical works from short plays to musical theatre. He most recently was accepted into the BMI Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop, where he is collaborating on an original new musical with playwright and lyricist Robert John Ford. Other recent premieres include MICHELANGELO BURNING, an original oratorio with the poetry of Michelangelo and choreography by Benjamin van Buren. His work has been seen in a variety of NYC Venues, including Dixon Place, Theatre at St. Clements, and Duplex Cabaret Theatre. [email protected]

Theater in Asylum (TIA) is a New York-based theater company founded in 2010 to challenge and empower our community. TIA joyfully pursues a rigorous research and an ensemble-driven approach to theater-making. We create performances to investigate our past, interpret our present, and imagine our future. We prize space to process, space to question—asylum—for ourselves and our community.
